Pisaster ochraceus

Description:

5 arms. Despite it's name, color ranges from purple to orange/brown.

Habitat:

Intertidal zone. Most were tucked under rocks on the beach. Two individuals were observed out in the open, in shallow water.

Notes:

Photographed at Titlow Beach park, Tacoma, Washington, just past low tide.
