Tiliqua rugosa
Heavily armoured body. Various colours from dark brown to cream. It has a short, wide, stumpy tail that resembles its head which may confuse predators.
Roadside near Streaky Bay SA
Short tailed slow moving species of the blue tongued skink. This is the only sub species native to Eastern Australia.

They are quite regular appearances on the side of the road in the bush, sadly a lot of them have been run over.
What a funny looking thing! If I would see this I would probably thing that something was wrong wiht it :)
