Cyrtophora moluccensis
Spider hangs with back facing the earth. It creates several egg sacs as visible in the picture. Also the web is 3-dimensional and appears like a tent. The last photo attempts to capture the "tent"
Found a number of these spiders outside my window. Each spider has a web and a vertical column of blobs. Also observed that as time passes the number of blobs seem to increase. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From reading further it appears that the "blobs" are egg sacs. Also the web is 3-dimensional and appears like a tent. Experts please leave any other information that you see appropriate.
Atul - seems like you are spot on about the Spider.
Whatever I have read around the web Cyrtophora Moluccensis seems to be consistent with the spider in picture.
The striking feature that got me interested in this spider was Multiple egg sacs.
However thanks to your identification I took a second look at the spider and can confirm the "Tent like web".
Thanks Malcolm. I already looked through the identified spiders in Spiders of India and haven't been able to match this one with any of the existing pictures.
So now time to wait for the experts to make suggestions.
Welcome to Project Noah vishius. Since you have added this to the Spiders of India mission, you could start by looking through all the spiders on that mission to see if you can find yours, or a similar one which may give a clue to its family. You will also see who is identifying them so you will know who to ask, by commenting on one of their spottings. To find out more about us why not check through our FAQs http://www.projectnoah.org/faq and blog pages http://blog.projectnoah.org/
