And have more: the whole plant contains saponins, the root of ragged robin was used for dress and hair washing as a soap...

yes, indeed, they are pretty, now I read that genus Lychnos is named by the greek "lychnos" which means "light" because leaves were in ancient times served as a wick for lamps! And maybe they are so named because of the beauty of flowers :)
I always like how raggedy but pretty these are! we have them here too, near moist areas like yours :-)
