Brown Lacewing

Hemerobiidae sp.


Brown lacewings are 6-15mm in length, depending upon species. They are voracious predators on other insect life, including aphids as shown in this photograph. They are smaller than green lacewings and have shorter wings that are more blunt than green lacewings.


I find these insects in suburban yards, old fields and on edges of forests.
