Ceratina smaragdula
Ceratina smaragdula (Fabricius, 1787), of family Apidae, subfamily Xylocopinae, tribe Ceratinini, subgenus Pithitis. This is a small green carpenter bee, about 9-10mm in size, aptly called Dwarf Carpenter Bee.
Backyard garden, spotted on a Yellow Alder flower.
I've mistakenly IDd this before as a Halictid Bee. I've mistakenly IDd this before as a green Halictid Bee, but I finally found a matching image, and it turned out to be a green Dwarf Carpenter Bee. My other spotting was corrected by Juan DiTrani as a Megachild Bee (Leafcutter Bee), and I was comparing my spotting with the Andrenid Bee (Mining Bee) before Juan's correction. I'm still confuse, but I'm glad I got two corrected IDs of these wonderful busy bees. :)
