Description:

A little over 3 feet long, tan background with dark brown blotches

Habitat:

Open field on one side of cement recreation path, scrubby trees & shrubs on the other side.

Notes:

Snake was crossing the paved path when frightened by people walking/jogging. It flattened its body somewhat and froze, trying to figure out an escape route.
