Snapping turtle

Chelydra serpentina

Description:

This turtle must be a baby he is only about 2 inches across the back of his shell, I found him while I was riding my bicycle on a rails to trail in north western PA. After I took the pics I placed him on the other side of the trail so he didn't get run over.

Move to Reptiles

I think it is a Common Snapping Turtle, Chelydra serpentina. Could be an Alligator Snapping Turtle, Macrochelys temminckii, but I do not know if Pennsylvania, USA has them?!

Could you place some inf. in the notes, like where did you find it, size, etc.. It is so cute I like to know what it is.

Beautiful!! It looks so Pre-historic. Love turtles. It looks a bit like a snapping turtle. Hope you get and ID, EAS64.
