Phallus indusiatus
Flies and other insects on top of the foul-smelling gleba of this species. "Insects assist in spore dispersal by consuming the gleba and depositing excrement containing intact spores to germinate elsewhere. Although the function of the indusium is not known definitively, it may visually entice insects not otherwise attracted by the odour, and serve as a ladder for crawling insects to reach the gleba."https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phallus_indusiatus
Spotted on a vacant lot (urban area)

Thank you Mark! I hope to see more of this kind of fungi in PN.
Nice series Noel. Got it before it was finished. I'm recently surprised how many species of this there are with subtle differences.
