Iberian Imperial Eagle

Aquila adalberti

Description:

This extremely rare species is confined to the Iberian Peninsula, with only less than 300 pairs breeding in the wild. Therefore, I consider it a lifer and was ecstatic to have seen one. This one is an immature bird in its 1st year, and was gliding really high alongside a band of griffon and black vultures. Their wingspan can go up to 2.20m (7.21 ft) wide!

Habitat:

Sparsely wooded country.

Notes:

Águia-imperial-ibérica
