Salvator rufescens
This reptile, Order Squamata, belongs to the Family Teiidae. They are preaty similar to Salvator merianae but with an incredible reddish colour. I have found them in the northern area of Argentina, in Formosa, and in the northern of the Patagonia, in Rio Negro. Both are dry ecosystems. It is almos a meter long.
The habitat is the semiarid ecosystem called Monte, that runs from the northern Argentina to the Patagonia, crossing it by the center or the country, It is a eco-region with a dry season and wiht deficit of water. There are some records in Buenos Aires, but these animals surely were released or scaped from captivity.
