Falcipennis canadensis
This is the female spruce grouse. Very well camouflaged among the leaves and trees of the boreal forest.
I noticed this grouse while hiking a trail in the Saguenay Fjord area because i saw her chicks running in the woods. I snapped a quick picture and left. Grouses are very protective of their young and i did not want to be attacked.
