Sharp-blotched Nola Moth

Nola pustulata

Description:

Nolid Moth (Family Nolidae) that is mostly white with a wide black band across the wings. Length is approximately 18mm.

Habitat:

Habitat is usually bogs and swamps. Range is Massachusetts to Florida west to Missouri and Texas. This one was photographed at a porch light near a southern deciduous forest with a nearby pond and small stream.

Notes:

Hodges#8989. Per BAMONA, this spotting is a new record for the species for Edgefield County, SC.
