Armadillidium vulgare
Phylum: Arthropoda, Class: Malacostraca, Order: Isopoda, Family: Armadillidiidae. The pill bug looks similar to a centipede, but has the ability to roll into a ball when it feels threatened. They grow to about 3/8 inches long and have 7 pairs of legs.
Spend the day in damp dark places such as underneath stones or logs. Comes out at night to feed.
Feed mainly on decomposing organic material. Females lay eggs that they carry in a pouch. The eggs hatch into pillbugs that are just smaller than adults, and they can remain in the pouch for up to two months. They develop to adults in about a year and can live up to three years.
