Doleschallia bisaltide

Description:

Doleschallia bisaltide is in Australia commonly named the Australian rustic. The caterpillar of this species is black with cream spots and blue and red markings. It is covered sparsely in branched black spines, and has a pair of hairy horns on its head. The Caterpillar of this species feeds nocturnally, hiding by day in debris on the ground by its foodplant. They feed on various species from the family Acanthaceae, including Australian native plants.

Habitat:

Doleschallia bisaltide breeds in primary and secondary rainforest at altitudes between 0-1400m.
