Permit (juvenile)

Trachinotus falcatus

Habitat:

Mainly over sand bottoms (sometimes reefs) from near the surface to 100 feet, where it preys on mollusks, urchins, and crustaceans as well as smaller fishes. These juveniles found on sandy and grass bottom beach.

Notes:

Don't recall ever seeing this fish here. It was very exciting when these 2 juveniles showed up and started circling while I was snorkeling and taking some pictures and videos of the usual suspects.
