Melanitis leda
18/7/13: Lime green chrysalis 22mm long, suspended from leaf blade of Urochloa maxima. Spotted 3 within a two metre transect of grassland. 25/7/13: I noticed the chrysalis was getting darker. 26/7/13: 10am the butterfly had emerged from the chrysalis and was hanging in situ, letting its wings 'set'. It sat there all day and into the night. Every once and a while it would exercise its wings.
Grassland in park.
You were spot on with the chrysalis ID Mark. Thank you! The proof was in the hatching! ;-) I have added more pics .... of what emerged
Hi Andrea. This might be a helpful link (chrysalis half way down page) http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...
