Rufous Hummingbird

Selasphorus rufus

Tiny bird with a very long slender dark colored beak. Rufous or reddish brown coloring with white on breast and underside. Rufous females have green on back and cap.

Tree line, field and fence near marsh water and bay.

This is one of a few little Hummingbirds I observe that live in the wild. They frequent the Morning Glory flowers and Bird's-foot Trefoil. An old fence is an occasional resting spot for Hummingbirds and many other small birds. The fence borders the abandoned property.
