Microcarbo melanoleucos
The common Little pied cormorant, or shag is black on its back and white underneath. It has a short yellow beak and small crest. This one is photographed with friends in a local suburban pond.
This specimen was spotted with some of its friends in a suburban pond
differs from the pied shag, being smaller, short beak, yellow beak (usually) and small black head crest feathers.
