Groove Billed Ani

Crotophaga sulcirostris

Description:

Black bird with longish tail. Thick beak like that of a raptor. Greyish feathering on the neck. About twice the size of a black bird.

Habitat:

Sonoran Desert

Notes:

Saw two of these this morning. I think they are very young and they did not want to fly but could. Maybe they could be baby Caracaras?

Thankyou Stian Waaler and AshleyT. Boy, I was way off on the ID! Never dreamed of having a tropical bird here in the desert, they may have blown in with the storm!
