Bubo virginianus
GHOW's can have a little past 5 foot wingspans and will take anything they so see fit, including skunks. They are one of the only natural predators of the skunk, and one of the most successful in the world, because of their near-silent flight; not to mention their size of over 2 feet long and great camouflage.
A very large female GHOW on a foggy morning at Bodega Head, Bodega bay, CA. I'm very happy about this series because these are my first GHOW shot where it is not sitting on something made by humans.
