Black Spot Moth

Epicoma melanospila

Description:

A solitary caterpillar about 25 mm long with black body speckled with white. Long black hairs covered the body and along the mid-line were tufts of ochre-coloured hairs. Prolegs were red. Head was black rimmed with red and had an inverted "V" shape along the midline.

Habitat:

Spotted feeding on a eucalyptus leaf in a nature reserve.
