Growing on moss in location that is shady all day in area of usually dam soil in trees and brush near lake shore.

Could it be a saffron milkcap? or a false saffron milkcap? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/171... if it is I would have expected red or green staining since the gills are quite broken

Nice gill shot! If that is a white liquid under the cap it is a Lactarius species. :-)
