White marked tussock moth caterpillar

Orgyia leucostigma

Description:

Tufted caterpillar (one of these was alive and very mobile at night, the other was found deceased) about 1 and 1/4 inches long. Generally yellowish/off white hairs with 4 raised hair clusters along the back. The face and tail had reddish markings and black hairs extended from the crown.

Habitat:

Found on our deck near oak trees.
