Six-Spotted Green Tiger Beetle

Cicindela sexguttata

Description:

Handsome, mostly swift-running beasts of prey. About 1/2 inch long. Iridescent green with six white spots. The young are called Doodlebugs. Good garden insect.

Habitat:

Shores of streams, lakes, or seas, barren ground, and woodland trails.
