African Castor

Description:

Ariadne enotrea, the African Castor, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. It is found in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Habitat:

The habitat consists of forests (especially disturbed areas) and heavy woodland.

Notes:

This was a very lucky shot. Never encountered such unique nymphalid butterfly ever after. Must be one of those on 'threatened' on the IUCN redlist.
