Giant web

Description:

Beautiful piece of architecture...first the fine mesh-like web that does the actual attaching. Then there is the sock-like central part...it has a bulbous centre. Some sort of a social nest? Community nesting?

Habitat:

Attached to a tree by the side of a narrow road leading to Hampi, Karnataka, India. I made my brother stop the car and ran back...hoping no other car would turn up; thankfully only goats and cows passed me by.
