Description:

One of the most common diurnal moths in Britain. On the wing from June to August and favours knapweed and Thistles in meadows and coastal areas. wingspan 30-38mm.

Habitat:

seen at Old Moor nature reserve in the Dearne valley.

Thanks J! it is a great sight to see as they are a very striking moth, especially in sunlight :-) unfortunately they are only about for two months of the year and only in certain places but when you find them there are dozens all on one flower!
