Have long, slender needles in groups of five. Classification: Kingdom: Plantae Phylum: Pinophyta Class: Pinopsida Order: Pinales Family: Pinaceae Distribution: Grows in Nearctic Temperate broadleaf and mixed forests Biome of eastern North America. It produces it's own food through photosynthesis. It grows in the front of our yard and has mild competition for sunlight from two surrounding trees.
