Black Twinberry or Bracted Honeysuckle

Lonicera involucrata

Description:

Shiny black bitter berries

Habitat:

Moist or wet soil in forests across Canada

Notes:

Not really edible, considered by some to be poisonous. Black Twinberry is also known as Inkberry for the fruits' color & as Bracted Honeysuckle because of the showy bracts that appear with the fruit. It is called Bearberry Honeysuckle or most whimsically "Grizzly Berries" because grizzly bears like them.
