This was the smallest of the 3 fledglings. The other fledglings had already left the nest box 3 days prior to these shots. The day I visited the spot this one was still there. I was informed a few hours after I left at 10pm it had finally left the box. At one point I saw it had one leg completely out of the box but like when someone tries something for the first time it panicked and flapped it's wing enough to get back into the box. The mom had visited one time I was there to feed moth to it. And the mom and one or both of the other fledglings kept calling trying to coax the last one out.

http://www.projectnoah.org/users/Sukanya.... Thank you. It was a chance in a lifetime.
Hema this was in someone's backyard. The parents use the box every year. I missed the night the first two fledged. A group of birders witnessed. The homeowners told me this little one didn't leave. They invited me over and heard the parents and the other two fledglings trying coax it out. It fledged two hours after I left . But at least I got to see it and photograph tryining to leave.
Hi Jellis, where exactly was this? Is it still around? I would like to see it.
Loved the eyes...and the look. Your notes made the scene come alive. Thanks.
