Glasseye

Heteropriacanthus cruentatus

Description:

It is a species of fish belonging to the family Priacanthidae, commonly known as bigeye fishes. The common name of "bigeye" refers to the unusually large eyes, suited to their carnivorous and nocturnal lifestyles. Priacanthidae are typically colored bright red, but some have patterns in silver, dusky brown, or black. In the case of the glasseye the fish has silvery mottled stripes in a reddish background. The size is around 30 cm.

Habitat:

Seen in 1000 Steps and Alice in Wonderland, Bonaire. Always hidden under coral crevices.
