Gray Langur

Semnopithecus entellus

Description:

Face is devoid of fur and covered in black skin. Long tail.

Habitat:

Spotted while driving through Bandipur-Mudumalai sanctuary, Karnataka-Tamil Nadu state borders where it is forbidden to stop.

Notes:

The Langurs come on to the middle of the road and "demand"food. These monkeys are revered and people do feed them despite notices forbidding them to do so. We were lucky that by the time we approached the monkeys were no longer on the middle of the road but on the verge...I thought I read expectation in their eyes.
