Photos are of a juvenile of the species. Photos taken at Kawa Nui Marsh, but they can be seen almost anywhere in Hawaii during the winter season. They migrate to Alaska for the summer. Known as Kolea in Hawaiian, they are frequently referred to in Hawaiian chants, mele, 'olelo, and hula. Photos taken at Kawa Nui Marsh.
