A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Pica nuttalli
Only found in central and southern California these large black and white birds looks similar to the Black-billed Magpie but is slightly larger size, with a larger bright yellow bill and has yellow skin around the eye. Like the Black-billed, these have a black hood down the back and chest. Black eyes, wings, legs and a long black tail. The flanks and belly are white as well as the white patches on the wings.
Open woodlands. This one was hanging around a campground looking for leftovers.
