Jewel Bug

Chrysocoris stolli

Description:

A small iridiscent beetle of about 2 cm. My brother thinks it's neon green. I'm a stronger advocate for a greenish turquoise. No matter what color it is, it is still quite beautiful and I am flummoxed as to why my cousin recoils from its 'ugliness'.

Habitat:

Seen in an urban habitat, in fact, in a stretch of dust and weeds between the roads!

Notes:

Thank you to my brother Neel (www.projectnoah.org/users/duttaguptaneel...) for sharing the delight of this spotting! Check out some of his photos, especially the kingfisher- he got a couple pics of this but none of them are post-able unfortunately.
