A VERY exciting spotting... the endangered Emu Mountain Sheoak in flower. This plant has a restricted geographic range of about 35 kilometres, with the majority of specimens occurring in the low-lying areas and western and south-eastern slopes of Emu Mountain.

You just never know, Shanna ... I think it makes the story even better that you didn't realize what it was when you took the photo. Must have been some whooping and hollering at your house when you made the ID. Very cool!

Thanks Suzanne! I didn't actually realise what it was until I got home and did the research... I knew about them but had never seen one. I was very glad I took the time to stop and take some pics of this specimen which looked kind of unassuming and scraggly!
