It is indeed a soldier beetle. One of the many large and colourful species of Themus (a genus with almost 200 species). Even though they are large and showy, they are quite difficult to distinguish, usually only after dissecting the genitalia. Also, there is still a good chance of finding new species in the Himalayan area, but only through collecting some specimens.
