Maroccan locust

Dociostaurus maroccanus

Description:

Most of the grasshoppers in Italy are of this species with little exceptions, they can be pretty long, about 4 cm, make a strong sound and if they find themselves in a small place in big numbers they can swarm and become a pest for every vegetal life they encounter. In Italy the numbers aren't as high as in Africa, so this behaviour is very rare.

Habitat:

garden at 1500 mt.above sea level
