14cm fully grown,spotted in a wood surrounded by rural fields. Plump with long black pointed bill. Elusive bird 145,000 breeding pairs in Britain-none in Ireland

Habitat:

Found in Woodland and occasionally mature gardens. Feeds on insects and is the only British bird that descends a tree trunk head first
