Passion Flower

Passiflora sp.

Description:

Flower was approximately 6in in diameter, and the vine had almost entirely covered the fence.

Habitat:

Climbing a metal garden fence in partial sun on a dry hillside.

Notes:

The species may be loefgrenii or maybe the hybrid (x) kewensis... there seem to be a lot of similar variations as well as hybrids. The darker inner corona and dark spotted stigma are similar to the P. caerulea flower, while the petal color is more similar to the P. kermesina (the P. x kewensis is a hybrid of these two species). Differences in coloration between my photos is simply a result of different lighting.
