Description:

Sandy gray, oval larva with large pincer-type jaws. These strange looking creatures create small pits in sandy soil and wait for unsuspecting arthropods to fall in so they can eat them.

Habitat:

Temperate forest, trailside near a freshwater lake, in sandy soil. Rockwood Park, Virginia.
