Red Ginger

Alpinia purpurata

Description:

Is a plant native to Malaysia. It has flowers on long brightly colored red bracts. They look like the bloom, but the true flower is the small white flower on top (in this case I am not sure the flower was bloomed yet). Introduced to Central America as ornamental plant for gardening.

Habitat:

Near Arenal Volcano. Garden.
