Red-belt conk

Fomitopsis pinicola

Description:

4 inches wide and projecting out from the tree 6 inches. About 4 feet above ground level. I believe this specimen is at the end of its life cycle.Which may explains why it looks much different to other spottings of the same sp.

Habitat:

Found on the South side a large unhealthy cottonwood tree. This is near a stream in a wetland area.
