Bighorn Sheep

Ovis canadensis

Description:

The bighorn sheep is a species of sheep in North America named for its large horns. This is a female. (ewe)

Habitat:

Mountain slope

Notes:

I have been trying to photograph bighorn sheep for a few months now and keep coming up empty handed. Finally I caught a quick glimpse of a female on a weekend trip to the high country. She looked a little rough and quickly disappeared. I was hoping we would find a larger herd but we never did. She appeared to be alone.
