Halloween Pennant

Celithemis eponina

Description:

These insects are about 4 cm (1.5 in) in length. The wings are a dark amber/orange color with brown/black spots on them. Both sexes are similar.

Habitat:

These insects are about 4 cm (1.5 in) in length. The wings are a dark amber/orange color with brown/black spots on them. Both sexes are similar.

Notes:

The name refers to the brown/black spotted orangish wings, which are the colors of Halloween. The "pennant" part of their name comes from their habit of perching at the top of bushes, often on bare twigs, and swinging back and forth in the breeze, like a pennant or flag.
