Description:

Crazy looking bug, spotted in the Gunung Leuser Jungle amongst the Orangutans. Seconds after I took this photo it sprung off the trunk horizontally like a spring coiling.

Fun fact! Lantern bugs are species of planthopper from South East Asia that are so named for their ability to produce light from the end of their extended snouts – a phenomenon that scientists believe may be related to courtship and mating.
