Cotinis nitida
Inch long flying beetle. Beautiful metallic green thorax. The wings were striped tan. The head was also metallic green. Sounded like a loud bee buzzing by when I initially heard it.
These beetles are found from Maine to Georgia and as far West as California. This beetle was found in our garden in Grand Island, Nebraska at 565 masl
This is my first spotting. If anyone can confirm the classification of this beetle I would appreciate the help.

Based on location and hind leg coloration I think you have the correct ID. It is possible that it is Cotinis mutabilis, but I think based on location and features nitida is more likely. See identification notes here https://bugguide.net/node/view/520
