Alaskan Birch with Moose Bite Marks

Description:

The birch is showing numerous gashes of missing bark. The gashes are caused by foraging moose using their incisors to snip off the ends of tree branches.

Habitat:

The tree was in the foothills of the Alaska Range and adjacent to a large open meadow.
