Fun fact! Great crested flycatchers have an interesting strategy to protect their eggs and young – they often incorporate shed snakeskins into their nests as a warning to would-be predators. Recent scientific research has demonstrated this to be an effective deterrent, but unfortunately many nests are now found to contain cellophane wrappers and other items of litter.
